Hire a Guide - Rock Climbing

Custom, or private guiding means you have a guide dedicated to you, and / or your group, rather than being in a class or clinic that is open to other guests. UMA can tailor Custom Guiding to your specific goals, needs and time frame.

UMA's outstanding guides and instructors are available daily from March through November to lead climbs and help guests progress in any and all aspects of rock climbing.

Personalized coaching accelerates learning and helps elevate you to the limit of your ability. Progress with a UMA guide, and he or she can then lead you on desert towers and cracks, Mt. Rainier, the Tetons, Denali, the Alps, Himalaya, etc.

All scheduled climbs and courses can be taught on a custom, private basis, any day that works for you and / or your group.

Instruction & Skill Building

Classic Wasatch Climbs

The Salt Lake City area is home to world renowned climbs on granite, quartzite and limestone formations. Our guides can lead you on some of the best classic climbs the Wasatch offers.

Overnight Climbs

Some of our favorite Wasatch climbs are high up in our mountain cirques and require a long approach. Plan on a day's hike to reach a flower filled meadow or a high mountain lake where you will enjoy a quiet night under the stars. Get up early the next day to climb, descend, break camp and hike back down to civilization.

Group, Team-Building and Corporate Programs

UMA organizes and leads tailor-made itineraries for corporate, family, school, church, youth, birthday parties, and other groups. One or multi-day mountain adventures can involve team-building, hiking, climbing, rappelling, orienteering, tyrolean traverses, etc.

UMA also specializes in corporate team-building and just-for-fun, group climbing activities. Participants learn trust by belaying and lowering one another under guides' supervision. Climbers overcome fear and push each other while scaling vertical walls and rappelling down. Venues in the Cottonwood Canyons are easily reached, can accommodate large groups, and offer climbing challenges from friendly to 5.13.
