Prepare yourself for safe journeys through the amazing canyons of Utah by spending a day learning the ropes in Big Cottonwood Canyon.  The instructor will review knots, belaying, and lowering, and go over the gear and techniques required to establish and equalize bombproof anchors.  Auto blocks, belayed, and possibly assisted rappelling will be practiced.  Methods of rapping into pools without losing your ATC will be shown.  Overhanging rappel and ascending by means of friction hitches and / or mechanical ascenders may also be covered.
