Mountaineering > Scheduled Courses > Grand Teton Prep
Instruction in alpine rock climbing, mitigation of mountaineering hazards, and overhanging rappel skills.
Description:
Climbing the world-famous Grand Teton is a great mountaineering experience, and the moderate technical difficulty makes it possible for most fit and athletic people. However, certain skills are essential, and the Salt Lake mountains provide an excellent training venue.
This is a full-day course that covers the fundamentals, including equipment, tie-ins and knots, rope management, footwork and movement, belaying, rappelling, and the all-important transitions during multi-pitch climbs.
UMA is closely associated with Exum Mountain Guides in Wyoming, and many guides work at both companies. The instructor for this course will be an experienced Teton guide.
