Tyson is the chief guide and director of operations at UMA and the author of Backcountry Skiing Utah. He remains passionate about skiing and climbing in the Wasatch Mountains, where he guides every winter (ski, mountaineering, ice and avalanche instruction;) and summer (rock, alpine climbing, traverses, etc.)

He continues to push himself and his guests in the mountains. In recent years, he’s led heli-assited ski mountaineering weeks in Alaska and an Ama Dablam expedition in the Everest region of Nepal, through his personal guiding company, Global Mountain Adventures; and a private Denali Expedition. In the Tetons, he guided the Cathedral Traverse in one 20-hour push. In Utah he led a 20,000 foot ski “tour” in Big Cottonwood Canyon. He specializes in steep and technical ski descents including the Grand Teton; many lines near Valdez, AK; East Face of Lone Pk; NW Couloir of Pfeifferhorn; Coalpit, Superior, Stairs Gulch and Salt Lake Twin Peaks.

Tyson grew up climbing and skiing in Idaho and Wyoming, and has guided since 1994. He’s led 11 Denali Expeditions and over 100 each of the Grand Teton and Mt. Hood, Oregon. He’s also guided in Washington (including Mt. Rainier,) British Columbia, SE Alaska, Colorado, Nevada, Idaho, California, Chile, Georgia and Russia. He intermittently does safety work for films and high-angle construction.

Bradley has made Alaskan first ski descents of Denali’s Wickersham Wall, Foraker’s Sultana Ridge and Mt. Fairweather’s Carpe Route. He’s led expeditions to Mt. St. Elias, the Himalaya, Karakorum, Alps, and Andes, including Khan Tengri and Pik Pobeda, Kyrgyzstan; Muztagh Ata, China; Snow Lake, Pakistan; Lobuche and Ama Dablam, Nepal; Huascaran, Peru; Mt. Blanc, Mt. Rose, Dolomiti Via Ferratas, Grossglockner, Elbrus and the Haute Route (EU) and Ecuador volcanoes. Tyson has skied Mt. Rainier 18 times by 5 different routes, including the Liberty Ridge. He’s skied Mt. Adams 22 times, and been on Shasta, Baker, St. Helens, Glacier Peak, and the Sisters.

Tyson is also a Commercial Fisherman, on the Great Salt Lake and in Alaska; and Freelance Writer, including for Ascent, the Backcountry Snow Journal. He earned a BA, Cum Laude, in Economics from the University of Washington in 1987.
