Nick McEachern (he/him) grew up in New England skiing and snowboarding on the icy slopes of New Hampshire and Vermont. He relocated to Utah in 2015 and began guiding backcountry ski trips and teaching avalanche courses. Whether he’s searching out the steepest powder in his home range, planning his next multi day ski traverse, or taking easy spring laps on Cascade Volcanoes, he feels at home in any mountain environment. His approach to Avalanche Education focuses on good decision making and effective travel techniques aimed at how to have fun and get home safely.
When there isn’t snow on the ground, Nick works as a mental health therapist in Salt Lake City, helping people accomplish their goals in a different context. Nick is also the founder and host of the Salt Lake Snowcast, a winter podcast about backcountry skiing in the Salt Lake area mountains. In his free time he enjoys reading, writing, cooking, and playing guitar.
