Julie was born and raised in France and started backcountry skiing, rock climbing and mountaineering in the Alps. She has rock, alpine and ice climbed in the continental US, Alaska, France and the Northern Himalaya. She has led Denali expeditions, completed the first ski descent of neighboring Mt Foraker’s Sultana ridge, and summited 23,000’ Khan Tengri in the Tien Shan Mtns. of Kyrgyzstan. She has enjoyed many nights on the big walls of Yosemite’s El Cap and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. In the fall of 1995, Julie traveled by bicycle through Western China, Tibet and Vietnam. Her outside interests include culture, politics and cinema.
Julie has worked for Utah Mountain Adventures, first as a guide since winter 1993-94 and then in 1996 as director and president of the guide service. In addition to guiding backcountry touring, rock climbing and mountaineering and teaching avalanche courses in the Wasatch, she has guided on Denali, in the Tetons, in Colorado and in New Hampshire.
