CJ grew up in Wisconsin, where long winters made learning to snowboard at age eight an easy decision. Annual ski trips west eventually led him to move to Utah shortly after high school, drawn by Salt Lake City and the Wasatch. Not long after, he discovered splitboarding and shifted his focus to backcountry travel.
His splitboarding experience includes trips to Argentina and Chilean Patagonia, the Tetons, the Enchantments in Washington and multiple descents of the volcanoes in CA, OR and WA.
CJ spends his winters in Utah, where he enjoys helping others learn how to move safely and confidently in the Wasatch backcountry. Outside of winter, he spends time rock climbing, canyoneering, and running rivers. His previous experience includes guiding ski and mountaineering trips on Mount Shasta, California, and working as a raft guide on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska.
