Originally from Ohio, Allison Conover has been calling the Wasatch home since 2003—where her love for deep snow, wild places, and people all found a common trail. With boundless enthusiasm and an infectious laugh, Allison has been guiding with Utah Mountain Adventures since 2009, sharing her expertise and joy for backcountry skiing with everyone from first-timers to seasoned mountaineers.
Allison’s passion for helping others extends far beyond the skin track. Over the years, she has worked as an instructor for at-risk teenagers and as a parent coordinator for troubled teens, roles that reflect her deep empathy and ability to connect with people from all walks of life. In 2017, her drive to make a difference led her to pursue a career in emergency medicine. She now works as a nurse at the University of Utah Emergency Department, where her natural leadership and strong interpersonal skills quickly propelled her into the role of Clinical Nurse Coordinator.
When she’s not coordinating care or leading avalanche courses, you can often find Allison working at the Snowbird Clinic or collaborating with the Utah Avalanche Center, where she has served as both an instructor and professional observer.
Outside of work, Allison thrives on movement and adventure. She’s an accomplished ultra-runner, having completed several 100-mile races, a devoted mountain biker who shreds her Juliana on Wasatch singletrack, and a regular at hot yoga classes. She also loves rock climbing, gardening, and spending time with her husband, 11-year-old son, and their energetic mini heeler—her only rival in stamina. The Conover crew can often be found traveling across the West in their camper truck, cheering on their son at downhill mountain biking races and ending the day with a well-earned beer under the stars.
Allison embodies the spirit of the Wasatch—resilient, adventurous, and full of heart.
