We Love Our Mountain Guides
Our guides are our chosen family. Utah Mountain Adventures employs more than 25 mountain professionals with a broad range of experience. UMA guides are hired for their demonstrated high achievement in the greater mountain ranges across the world and possess a passion for sharing their skills and love of adventure. Our guides have a long-standing reputation for professionalism and are well-respected across the industry.
UMA guides are uniquely qualified both by formal training and extensive experience climbing, skiing, traveling and guiding in Utah and around the world. Our team has progressed climbers and skiers in the Wasatch Mountains to summit the Grand Teton, the Grand Traverse, Mt. Whitney, Denali, the Haute Route in the Alps, Mt. Elbrus, Island Peak and Everest, among others.
Highly Trained, Deeply Rooted, Passionately Committed
UMA is the largest year-round guiding company in Utah and retains the most AMGA/IFMGA guides on its roster. UMA guides are in the American Mountain Guides Association instructor pool and teach professional avalanche courses. Most are certified guides in one or more disciplines and/or en route to certification.
In addition to formal training, UMA understands that experience is a powerful teacher. We hire for demonstrated survivability and high achievement in the great ranges of the world. Each of our guides has exhibited outstanding competence, yet continues to better themselves personally and professionally in the mountains. They also possess a passion for sharing their knowledge and skills with others and truly enjoy working with UMA guests.
Our guides live, work and play in Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Mountains. Not only are they professional guides, educators and mentors, they are deeply embedded in the community as teachers, nurses, engineers, fishers, firefighters, therapists, professional athletes, mothers and fathers. They are mentors, educators and interesting, personable people with whom you would choose to spend time in the mountains.
